FAQ

Q. HOW LONG WILL MY BOAT BE HAULED OUT?

A. Once your boat is hauled, it needs to be sanded and prepped for painting. The process is affected by several factors including stern size, temperature, indoor/outdoor elements and boat yard schedules. A typical 50’ boat will be hauled for one week (seven days).

Q. HOW MANY CLEAR COATS WILL BE APPLIED TO THE STERN?

A. To stand up to the harsh conditions including the sun and offshore salt water, 14 coats of clear is recommended.

Q. How long can i expect my paint job to last?

A. In general you can expect the clear coats to last around four years. Certain factors such as, constant direct sun exposer, cleaning product exposer, and wear and tear like line burn, or billfish marks may shorten the products life expectancy.

Q. what does my crew need to do to care and maintain our new teak stern?

A. I use all Awlgrip products. They recommend their Awlcare wax cleaners for all of their paint finishes.

Q. what other services do you offer?

A. Teak Creations offers faux marine teak application on boat parts.  Whether you have something that’s of fiberglass construction or you’re just tired of keeping up with varnish, I can apply my faux marine teak to fighting chairs, rocket launchers, helm and bridge chairs, step boxes, and dock boxes.

Q. Do you travel, or do we need to bring the boat to Palm Beach?

A. Yes, I travel to most service centers and yacht manufacturers facilities. However, local jobs are generally lower in cost.
